How Computation Applies to My Interests

I’m drawn to Gentle Monster’s installation of giant human faces with exposed mechanical structures. The realistic faces feel strangely alive, while the visible machinery makes that feeling unsettling. What interests me most is how showing the mechanisms becomes part of the artwork and changes the way I look at the faces. It makes me curious about how computation can connect movement, physical materials, and space to create an emotional experience. This installation gives me inspiration and a direction for exploring creative coding in my own work.

Self Portrait

I started by sketching out my self-portrait and breaking it into simple shapes. Then I used p5.js to recreate those shapes and adjusted their positions, sizes, and colors. One challenge I had was getting the shapes to line up correctly, especially when I wanted some parts to be tilted instead of straight. I also had to adjust the order of my code so that certain shapes appeared in front of or behind others. I kept changing the coordinates and testing the sketch until it looked closer to what I wanted.
