Overview

The IdealData MCP server is a secure connection layer that lets AI assistants such as Claude read your live IdealData account: the signals raised on your store and the business data behind them. It removes the step of opening several dashboards, exporting reports, and stitching the results together in a spreadsheet before you can ask a question.

Every tool exposed by the server is read-only. Nothing in your store, your customer records, or your IdealData account can be created, changed, or deleted through this connection.

What you can do with it

Who it is for

Before you start

You need an active IdealData account with at least one connected store. A 15-day free trial is available at my.idealdata.io with no credit card required.

The connector reads whatever you have already connected in IdealData. That may include your store platform, inventory and fulfillment, customer records, call activity, and site and search performance.

Server URL and authentication

Setting Value
MCP server URL https://my.idealdata.io/mcp
Transport Streamable HTTP
Authentication OAuth 2.1

When you add this URL to an AI tool, you are redirected to sign in to IdealData. After you sign in, a consent screen asks you to approve the connection. Once you approve, the connection is live. You never create, copy, or manage an API token at any point, because the server supports automatic client registration.

Only users with the Owner or Administrator role on an IdealData account can authorize a connection, and the access granted is read-only in every case. The connector cannot reach anything beyond the account you signed in to.

The server advertises a single scope, data:read. There is no scope that permits writing, so no connected tool can create, change, or delete anything in your account.
