Inside Story: A Gut Journal — Privacy Policy

Inside Story ("we," "us," or "the app") is a personal gut-health journal. Your privacy, especially around sensitive health information, is something we take seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What data we collect

Information you provide:

• Account information — your email address, used to create and secure your account.
• Health and journal entries — the information you choose to log, including symptoms, meals and food details, bowel movements, mood, flare episodes, hydration, medications, and appointments. This is the core of the app and is entered entirely by you.
• Notes — any free-text notes you add to your entries.

Information collected automatically or with your permission:

• Approximate location — only when you use the optional "Restroom Finder" feature, and only to find public restrooms near you. Location is used at the moment you request it and is not stored by us.
• Subscription status — whether you have an active subscription, managed through Apple and our subscription provider.
• Basic device identifiers — used by our subscription provider to manage purchases and by our backend to keep your account secure.

How we use your data

We use your data only to:

• Provide the app's features (logging, insights, reminders, reports, and the restroom finder)
• Create and secure your account
• Sync your entries so they're available on your device
• Manage your subscription
