Describe a project you want to make. Why do you want to make it?

I want to create an interactive project called Hair Habitat Salon, a speculative hair salon where people’s hairstyles become temporary shelters for birds displaced by habitat loss. Visitors would enter as salon clients, draw a bird card, and have their hair styled based on that bird’s needs for shelter, warmth, and safety. I like the idea of turning something ordinary and personal, like getting your hair done, into an act of care for another species. I want to make it because it makes environmental issues feel intimate and physical instead of distant or abstract.

Draw Me Like You’re Three

I know what you look like. Probably.

One time I asked a 3-year-old to draw a portrait of me based on the description I gave her. I will tell you honestly… that was not the best portrait of me… only if you can tell that’s me. And that is what I want to make about this little project: to recreate that scene and this time you(the player) are me, and my code will be that kid.

The drawing should have several characteristics:

To achieve these goals, there are actually a good amount of programming problems that needed to be addressed.

drawing the shapes, randomness, functions, text input, word recognition, and game states… could be more… I will add to this list in progress :)

1. Make face using only basic shapes

Gladly, we talked about how to draw circles and arcs in class. With the reference page on p5.js, it is easy to build a face with only basic drawing functions.

I started with:

ellipse() circle() triangle() line()

It is simple but you can kinda tell it is a face (o˘◡˘o)
