Journey Entry I love working on this interactive portrait sketch in p5.js because it turns a static drawing into something that reacts to me in real time — moving my mouse literally changes the character's expression. What I appreciate most is how a tiny bit of math (map()) can translate raw pixel coordinates into something expressive, like a shifting gaze or a growing smile. People who haven't coded before often don't realize that "animation" isn't really movement — it's just redrawing something slightly differently, 60 times a second, fast enough to fool the eye. That distinction — between illusion of motion and actual motion — is something I find genuinely fascinating and want to explore more.

This is the line I want to discuss in class, because it’s the moment where a raw input (mouse position) becomes an expressive parameter (smile width) , it is a small piece of code but it is doing the conceptual work of turning numbers into “emotion”.
