📜 On rules and harmony - what drives us?
As humans shifted from hunter-gatherer bands to settled agriculture, dense communities, surplus, and trade brought strangers together and demanded shared rules to secure order and harmony. Early city-states codified those duties and protections; from the Sumerian Code of Ur-Nammu to Hammurabi’s stele pledging that the strong should not oppress the weak. Over millennia, societies, commerce, and technology layered complexity onto those codes, yielding the intricate legal systems we know today.
Yet in many domains those rules now defeat their original purpose: they have grown so complex that organizations slow to a crawl, leaning on scarce experts and bureaucracy. The EU chamber of-commerce estimates the regulatory-compliance burden at 12% of the EU’s GDP. We believe a different path is possible: at bayshore, we make navigating complex rules seamless so societies can move forward with confidence. We are designing explainable, controllable, reliable AI that performs complex legal and compliance tasks in pursuit of a world where rules create harmony, not chaos; where compliance is effortless, automated, and never a barrier to ambition.
