Gentlemen, it appears we have leaked goals again similar to the downpour the country experienced last night. 2 goals in quick succession, a capitulation if you will.

I honestly felt we did not perform too bad for some part, in fact quite the opposite. What is really irking me is the fact it looks at times, in fact most of the time that the ball just slips away from us at every opportunity, like they are playing on ice or something.

Wehrly bros missing the ball a few times was absolutely hilarious but in all seriousness we should have had a goal or 2, but that is just the way the season has gone for us this year. Aside from getting that penalty against Galway earlier in the season, genuinely nothing has went our way at all, at least we will always have that Agadoo McHugh goal in Tallaght a few months ago, Christ what a night that was.

Young Brennan is a quality player tbh and I reckon Graham Burke is right up there with one of the best LOI players I have ever seen, just a pure touch of class and I could care less on what anyone thinks on that statement. When we were playing Shams at home a few weeks ago I was watching Burke and Brennan warming up, Bradley had them flying up and down the touch line from the first minute and I knew in my heart and soul that when they stepped on to the pitch they were going to rattle us, and that they did.

There is a massive disparity between both sets of players on that pitch, you would need only look at their back line without even reading further to see the massive gulf in class available to them, 6 seasons in a row on the trot is outrageous and a big part of me is saddened to see that happen, ugly scenes when it becomes a one horse show. It just seems year after year the Derrys and the Bohs and the Pats just flat out fill the togs and Shams seem to just about clinch or run away with it. But sure then again, you literally need to restart each season and they have done it time and time again so what else can you say.

The type of goals we are conceding and the rate at which we do so is absolutely horrific, someone has definitely made a deal with the Devil or sold their soul because a little part of me dies each time. I follow Man Utd kind of, I like many Irish people have an English club, but I support Rovers, dya get me, they are my number 1 club. I started throwing an eye on Hibbs for Elding and even they are in a relagation battle at the minute. Football for myself for the last 3/4 years has been absolutely abysmal, its absolutely cat, I could probably count on one hand between the 3 clubs how many times they have won lol.

I am perpetually waiting for this season to be over, I genuinely can not even fathom next year at all. I reckon many people are in the same boat as myself at the minute where you are sick to your stomach about next year, questions such as who stays, seeing the posts about such and such a player has departed, the threat of not coming back up and rotting away down there, the threat of not being able to maintain being a full time club, questions of the ownership and who its going to be and if it will be a shit show or not. All of these are valid and I find myself thinking about it at some point each and every day but we have to just park our feelings for this season all thats gone wrong and just put that faith into our new stadium, the skipper and the opportunity to get back to the Premier division where we belong. I would also ask supporters, not that it has to be said because we are a humble enough bunch, to not write off the First division and to truly treat it as an enormous challenge, because it absolutely will be. We need to get the recruitment right, hold on to a few all whilst trying to maintain attendance at The Showgrounds. I anticipate many people will not attend and it kills me to say it, after this season you really could not blame those types of people but the support going forward will be just as important as it was last year when we won away to Shams to stay up. All and all, very disappointed with the result tonight between the rank scoreline and by handing the title over, it just encapsulates what a God awful season its been.

Now, thats all ill say on that for the time being, I’ll elaborate more after the final game and we will leave it there until pre season next year. One thing I would like to see next season is to keep the black jersey from this season, provided we are still with Umbro. Release a new home shirt and then release some sort of limited edition of commemoriate jersey, it will be nice for the fans and many people I would assume would invest in a third jersey, more income for the club and just gives the club that bit more personality, just dont go political about it like certian clubs do, politics and religion etc should be separated from the sport and I will gladly die on that Gallows Hill thank you.

The Rovers Return Season 2 - A look forward

It is with immense joy that I can confirm The Rovers Return will, I suppose, return for season 2 next year. After the last game next week, thank God, I will do my coverage as always and then inform you all of plans for next year and hopefully spice it up a wee bit. I enjoy doing it and even if no one reads, its nice to get my thoughts off the chest, therapeutic in a sense lol.

I will explore
