Day 1 – Slow to Speak, Quick to Listen

Verse:

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

— James 1:19

Thought:

Spirit-filled people should not be ruled by feelings. The Holy Spirit doesn’t just make us loud in worship. He also teaches us to calm down, listen, and think before we speak. When we react in anger, we often hurt people and damage our witness.

Reflect:

• Do I usually listen first or talk first?
• How has my anger hurt someone recently?

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, help me pause before I speak. Make me quick to listen and slow to anger. In Jesus’ name, amen.
