Project: Juthour (Roots) – Arboretum & Ecological Education Centre
Juthour is the first project of its kind in the region: a long‑term legacy grounded in love for land and future generations. It exists to protect Palestinian ancestral land and to regenerate a degraded mountain into a living tree museum (arboretum) and an ecological education centre.
The long‑term vision is to secure the mountain as a nature preserve for 100–200 years, protecting trees, wildlife, migrating birds, and native flora, while providing sustainable revenue to support its mission through its custodians and governance. Land and resources are never treated as assets for extraction or speculation, but as a trust to be carried forward.
I) Living Tree Museum – A Palestinian arboretum built on regenerative and sustainable principles, showcasing indigenous and Mediterranean tree species and their stories.
II) Nature Preserve – A protected sanctuary where nature can reclaim the land with gentle human stewardship, offering refuge for flora and fauna.
III) Ecological Education Centre – **** A public learning space, in partnership with Ramallah Municipality, where schools, universities, community groups, and visitors can experience hands‑on environmental education and cultivate a culture of custodianship.
IV) Sustainable, Mission‑Aligned Revenue – Nature‑aligned offerings (accommodation, restaurant, retreats, educational programs) that exist only to sustain the land, its caretakers, and a long‑term endowment for the preserve, never for extractive profit.
V) Family Home for Stewards – A long‑term residence for custodians and future stewards, fully integrated into the landscape and demonstrating regenerative, low‑impact living in practice.
