Overview
Voice of the Savanna at Dawn depicts the moment when the world begins again. Before sunrise, the savanna exists in a state of near‑silence—an undefined space where nothing has yet taken form. As the first light touches the earth, the landscape slowly regains its breath. This work portrays that generative moment through layered counterpoint and evolving rhythmic energy.
Program Note
Dawn in the savanna is not a dramatic event but a gradual emergence shaped by countless subtle movements: the shifting air, distant animal calls, the warming of the ground. Each element awakens independently, yet all eventually converge into a single unfolding presence.
The music begins with a quiet, low resonance, from which a small motif arises. Passed between instrumental groups, this motif becomes a metaphor for the many voices of nature awakening at their own pace. The fugue‑like texture reflects the coexistence of multiple temporal layers—nature’s polyphonic time.
At the climax, all voices rise together, capturing the moment when the world becomes visible in light. The closing section dissolves into spacious resonance, leaving only the quiet afterglow of morning.

Composer’s Note
In nature, time breathes differently. The transition from night to morning is a process of becoming—a slow reassembly of the world through countless small gestures.
The contrapuntal writing in this piece is not merely a technique but a way of expressing the multiplicity of natural presence. Each line is an independent life, yet all belong to the same living environment.
