The idea for laazo came from an online reddit thread, where someone pointed out that if they selected the general area around our college they would just see people from our college, and they asked jokingly : “Why dont these guys just date each other?”.

But this was not something as simple as that, we understood there are often a lot of problems one faces on dating apps.

1. Word travel fast in college and thus its always a game to right swipe someone from college, and that fear always exists.
2. Dating apps extremely rely on looks, and if that was such a great idea most of the dating apps would either be out of business or drowning in cash, and thus we feel personality should come first, not faces.
3. Guys by default dont get a lot of matches on dating apps due to an imbalance in ratio of men-women.
4. It might be hard for someone to reveal their sexuality openly on a dating app, especially when they are not ready where anyone from their college might see them.

That was where laazo began, a college campus based no-swiping completely anonymous chatting/dating app. We match you with someone from your college directly, you dont know each others name or face or anything, we pitch the other person to you from what they have provided to us and why they might be a great match for you. Then you chat, and when you feel you are comfortable sharing your identity with the other person you hit ‘Reveal’, but only when both of you are ready to reveal can you see each others face. And if anywhere within the process you feel something is off or uncomfortable you just hit un-match.

To maintain a transparency with our users we promise one thing, we will guarantee you a match as long as you are out of our waiting list and onto our active matching pool (you can know you status when you download the app), then we do guarantee you a match !!!

The waiting list is completely First come first serve, with the caveat being that the ratio is not getting messed up, either men or women dont outnumber each other on the app. This allows us to keep things more fair and simple as well.
