Results

Well, another year behind us, and it’s time to reveal the results of this year’s AFL Ladder tipping. And, frankly, it’s not good news for most of us.

Let’s start with the good news. Everyone in IJL got at least 1 team correct on the ladder. North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs were correctly picked by 4 and 3 contestants, respectively. And our 2 guest celebrity tipsters both failed to get a single team in the right place. But that’s where the good news ends, I’m afraid.

The teams that everyone tripped up on were Geelong, Richmond, Fremantle, and GWS. Everyone tipped Geelong and Richmond to make the 8, which was wrong, and only Shay correctly tipped that Fremantle would miss the 8, and he had them 9th. Conversely, everyone predicted that GWS would miss the 8, incorrectly.

Brenton picked the most teams in the right position, with 3 (Brisbane, Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne). Gav (Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn) and Rob (Hawthorn, West Coast) both picked 2 correctly. Alan (Brisbane), Andy (North Melbourne), Gabe (Sydney), Kaan (Western Bulldogs), Lachlan (North Melbourne), and Shay (North Melbourne) all picked a single team correctly.

Anyway, on to the final results. In reverse order…

11th: Lachlan - 84

10th: Alan - 78

9th: Shay - 75

8th: Brenton - 74

Eq. 6th: Andy, Scoops - 72

5th: Gabe - 71

Eq. 3rd: Gav, Kaan - 70

2nd: Rob - 64

1st: Purple - 60

So, yeah, we’ve been beaten by Purple. Need to have a good hard look at ourselves, next year.

Rules

You all know the rules by now, but just in case you need you memory refreshed... The goal of this comp is to try and tip the final AFL ladder at the end of the Home & Away season. Before the start of round 1, anyone wanting to participate should post their prediction of the ladder in this thread. The way we determine the winner is by numerical difference. For each position a team is out from their actual finishing position, that player will score 1 point. This means the LOWEST score at the end of the year is the winner.
