While it is best to begin utilizing and implementing classroom management and procedures the first day, week, and months of school; it is truly never too late to use them, the key is consistency, (“Strategies for Building a Productive,” 2018).
As a preschool ESL teacher, I believe that every child is capable of learning, growing, and expressing themselves, regardless of their language background. And with that, I am committed to creating a fun, safe, and nurturing classroom for all types of learners. I want my students to feel comfortable with their peers and with me so we can build trust and share the joy of learning together. I believe learning should be fun, hands-on, and interactive. Children learn from one another when guided with structure and support from the teacher.
Children have their own culture, heritage, knowledge, and beliefs. In a diverse learning environment, I value and embrace these differences. I strongly believe in Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, which recognizes that children have unique strengths and ways of learning. One child may thrive through mathematical activities, while another may excel through creative arts.
Learning should be something children want to do. My role is to spark curiosity, engage their interests, and inspire them to explore. As a teacher, my role is to provide differentiated instruction and use varied approaches that allow each child to shine. I aim to help every learner build self-confidence by recognizing and celebrating their individual abilities. My teaching style is flexible, ensuring that children can learn and master lessons at their own pace, in ways that suit their needs and learning styles. This intrinsic motivation leads to deeper learning. I believe every child can succeed through clear expectations, positive reinforcement, peer encouragement, and cooperation. I maintain a calm presence in the classroom and avoid raising my voice.
I strongly affirm that family involvement is essential in my ESL classroom. Regardless of the method, open and consistent communication is vital to supporting student growth and success. At the end of the school year, I measure my effectiveness by the growth and development of my students. My goals are for each child to: 1) master the appropriate academic content for their age and developmental stage, 2) develop a genuine love for learning and a natural curiosity about the world around them, and 3) build the confidence and skills needed to resolve conflicts and work peacefully with others. Achieving these goals means I have not only supported their academic progress, but also nurtured their social, emotional, and lifelong learning skills.

Today’s students are often described as digital natives, having grown up surrounded by technology from birth. As an IT graduate and preschool ESL teacher, I believe it is essential to harness both my technological expertise and the children’s natural familiarity with digital tools to enhance their learning experiences. My background in technology allows me to integrate ICT thoughtfully and effectively, ensuring it supports language development, engagement, and creativity.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools allow young learners to investigate, create, and share ideas in ways that support their diverse learning styles. The use of ICT supports Vygotsky’s emphasis on hands-on, interactive experiences that deepen understanding. In my teaching practice, I have incorporated ICT by engaging children with educational applications, age-appropriate websites, and interactive whiteboard activities.
By combining my IT background with a passion for active learning, creativity, and outdoor discovery, I strive to create a balanced, engaging, and developmentally enriching environment for my preschool students.
