Summary
There are 4 types of light sources in the Spline app:
- Ambient light. The light you can't delete or add, but you can turn it on or off. Ambient light is shining from everywhere.
- Directional light. The source of light you can find in the scene by default. This light is always shining directly to the centre.
- Point light. This source of light imitates a bulb light.
- Spot light. This source of light imitates a light from a flashlight 🔦
☝️ Be careful with light. Try not to use many light sources or, where and when possible, don't use them at all. Creating a scene without light sources is helpful because it will help you optimize your scene if you plan to embed it into the web. The more lights you have, the heavier your scene and the slower the performance.
☝️Do not over-illuminate or darken your object too much.

Hint: If you don't want your object to reflect or cast a shadow, turn it off in the object panel.
