What is Spirits?

Spirits is the name of an original story based on Eastern mythologies, but mostly Japanese. This world has dragons, gods, demons, many kinds of [eastern] spirits based on yokai, etc. Humans do exist in this world but cannot wield magic like the many other mythological creatures that roam the world. Human souls are the basis for the existence of spirits and demons respectively. For my purposes, I won’t be delving much into human society and will focus more on the dragons and gods. Basically, I just need humans to exist because otherwise, the whole concept of spirits won’t work. I could also make them a different species, but the dragons have their own society going on so it kinda doesn’t mesh well. I like to see this story as the culmination of the many stories I’ve written in the past.

The story follows the three main characters: Kazuhiro, Shun, and Chiharu. Individual character lore can be found in my Toyhouse.

How can I engage with it?

Right now, I don’t have much content on it yet. You’re mostly going to find lore for it here and on my Toyhouse. I have no idea whether I want to write a whole book yet or if I just want to bring it to life through drawings/animations and smaller excerpts. I’m planning to develop this world a lot more in future, so don’t worry, there will be more stuff to engage with (hopefully)!

I’m not totally against the idea of public oc-making for this world, but I don’t really have anything concrete on that side. Let me know if anyone would be interested in that!
