• You already "know" all spells: Every spell exists from the start of the game.
• Formulas are the key: Each spell has a special incantation. These formulas are found in the Book of Ancient Wisdom or hinted at by NPCs (or you can look them up using the resources above)
• Mixing spells in advance: You actually mix spells ahead of time, like brewing potions. This uses up the reagents right away and places the spell into your prepared spell inventory.
• Reagents are required: Spells cost specific ingredients. No reagents, no preparation. You buy reagents in apothecaries around Britannia. Gold is tight early, so only buy small amounts of the most useful ones.
• Casting: Once a spell is prepared, you can cast it freely until it’s used up. If you don’t prepare it beforehand, you can’t cast it in battle.
• Note-taking matters: The game won’t track formulas for you. Keep your own spellbook or notes, just like the original players did with the manual (or look them up, because it's 2025).

This system makes magic feel like stocking potions: you plan ahead, prepare what you think you’ll need, and then ration those spells carefully. Useful ones to prioritize early include light (for dungeons) and healing (for poison and damage).
