Milki is an AI companion app developed by Milki Labs. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Information We Collect

Milki stores the following data locally on your device: your name (if provided), conversation history, reminders you set, journal entries, personality quiz results, and preferences. Some of this data — described in detail below — is also sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate Milki's responses.

How We Use Your Information — Third-Party AI Processing

Milki uses Anthropic's Claude AI models to power conversations and personalize your experience. Before any data is sent, you must explicitly agree to this in the app.

Data sent to Anthropic includes:

• The text of your messages and a limited window of recent conversation history
• Your chosen display name
• Personal facts you share or that Milki infers over time (e.g. general age range, location, occupation, relationship status, goals, interests, and behavioral patterns)
• Your personality quiz results and inferred communication style
• Journal entries, if you use the journaling feature
• References to people in your life, described by relationship role (e.g. "your mother," "your best friend") rather than by name
• If you separately opt in: a general emotional-state signal, which may include indicators of emotional distress

We do not send your exact address, financial information, or government ID data.

We do not store your conversations on our own servers — data passes through to Anthropic to generate a response and is not retained by us server-side. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except Anthropic (for AI responses) and RevenueCat (for subscription management).

Emotional Safety

Regardless of whether you opt in to emotional-state sharing, Milki includes a local safety feature that shows crisis support resources (such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and Crisis Text Line) when it detects language suggesting you may be in crisis. This detection happens entirely on your device and does not require sending data to any third party.
