Company Overview / Who We Are

Purpose is an AI-powered personal growth coaching app built on validated behavior-change science. Our AI coach helps people build lasting habits and break the ones holding them back —through structured interventions, not aimless chat. We’re a small, senior team that ships fast, measures everything, and takes the science seriously.

We launched on the App Store in late 2025 and are now focused on compounding the gains: improving how users discover value, how quickly they activate, and how long they stay. That’s where you come in.

Position Overview

We’re hiring a Mobile Growth Engineer to own experimentation, funnel optimization, and growth analytics across our React Native app. This is not a traditional mobile engineering role. You’ll spend more time designing and running A/B tests than building features for their own sake. Every line of code you ship should have a hypothesis behind it and a metric attached to it.

You’ll report to the Chief Science & Technology Officer and work closely with our CPO, and a small team of senior engineers. You’ll have real leverage — at our scale, one well-run experiment can move the business.

Location: Remote (Global)

Time Commitment: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

Run experiments, constantly. Design and ship rapid A/B tests across onboarding flows, paywall placement and copy, subscription prompts, upgrade nudges, and referral mechanics. You’ll own the full cycle: hypothesis → implementation → instrumentation → analysis → decision. Expect most of your experiments to fail. That’s the point — you’re searching for the 10-20% that compound.

Optimize every step of the funnel. Map and measure the user journey from install to activation to habit formation. Identify the biggest drop-off points and run targeted experiments to fix them. You’ll care about metrics like install-to-trial, trial-to-paid, D7/D30 retention, and ARPU — and you’ll be able to explain why one moved and another didn’t.

Build growth-specific features. Implement subscription flows, paywall variants, in-app purchase mechanics, and lifecycle nudges (push, in-app messaging). These aren’t side projects — they’re the core of the role. You’ll work with RevenueCat for subscription infrastructure and build paywall experiences that convert without undermining the user experience.

Instrument and analyze. Maintain and extend our analytics implementation in PostHog. Build funnels, cohort analyses, and dashboards that the whole team uses to make decisions. You should be comfortable writing SQL, setting up feature flags, and debugging event pipelines when the data looks off.

Improve app performance where it impacts growth. App Store conversion rates, crash- free session rates, cold start times — these are growth metrics too. You’ll partner with the broader engineering team to identify and fix performance issues that leak users out of the funnel.

Required Qualifications

3-5 years of mobile development experience, with meaningful time spent in React Native. You’ve shipped production apps and you understand the mobile release lifecycle — builds, OTA updates, phased rollouts, App Store review dynamics.

Experimentation as a practice, not a buzzword. You’ve run real A/B tests with real statistical rigor. You know what sample size means, why you can’t peek at results early, and how to pick the right success metric. You’ve also learned the hard way that most experiments don’t win, and you’re fine with that.

Strong product analytics instincts. You’re fluent in SQL and comfortable building funnels, retention curves, and cohort breakdowns. You’ve used tools like PostHog, Amplitude, or Mixpanel in anger — not just read the docs.

Pragmatism over perfection. You’d rather ship a rough experiment in two days than a polished feature in two weeks. You understand the growth engineer tradeoff: code that validates a hypothesis fast is more valuable than code that scales elegantly but teaches you nothing.
