How to build your own GPT

You don't need to code anything. If you can describe what you want, you can build it. Here's the whole flow:

  1. Go to chatgpt.com and click Create a GPT (or head straight to chatgpt.com/gpts/editor). You'll need a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise account.
  2. Use the Create tab and just talk to it. Tell it what you want your GPT to do, who it's for, and how it should sound. It builds the first version with you in plain conversation.
  3. Switch to the Configure tab to fine-tune. Give it a name, a description, and clear instructions. This is the brain of your GPT, so be specific about what it should always do and never do.
  4. Add knowledge if you want it smarter. Upload PDFs, docs, or guides so it answers from your material instead of guessing.
  5. Turn on the capabilities you need, like web browsing, image generation, or code.
  6. Test it in the preview panel on the right. Ask it the real questions your audience would ask, then tighten the instructions until it nails them.
  7. Click Create or Update, then set your sharing: Only me, Anyone with a link, or Everyone in the GPT Store.
  8. Copy the share link and you're live.

A quick rule that makes a big difference: the clearer your instructions, the better your GPT. Treat it like training a new team member. The more specific you are, the less it improvises.
