Live well, new families. We're so happy that you're here and I wanted to create this session as an orientation for you to get acquainted with all things live well. And so tonight we're going to talk about communication, calendar and themes, how a session works, the homeschool support that we provide, family events and volunteering. And then at the end, if you have any questions, feel free to either ask here or reach out to me directly.
ways that we communicate. There is the live well to parent platforms that we use for communication. So that is, you know, That's one, type of communication and then we have the parent to live well type of communication. And so So starting with Live Well to Parent, how we communicate with you, the main way is using the platform called Band. And all of you have received invitations to join each studio's channel and then also an all families channel. That is where I mostly communicate with all the families.
And then Miss Jenny will communicate in the Cubs studio and Mr. Carmel will post in the Lions studio. We're posting here, we simply ask that you regularly acknowledge the posts that the guides give you so we know that that you've seen them we know that many parents are so busy this is what we use to communicate with you sometimes we will miss Jenny will also have things posted on the board but we want to make sure that this tool is well used and keeps our families well informed it's hard when we make when we try to accommodate many different platforms to communicate with parents and parents still don't know what's going on.
So we're asking for your help to follow along closely to the band posts and thumbs up or give a heart or something to as a, as a gentle thank you to the guide, but also more importantly, so that we know that this platform provides value because if enough parents don't engage in it, that will tell us that it's not that valuable to you. So you can also access the studio calendar on Band as well. It's the calendar that is, each channel has its own It has its own calendar, but we don't use the calendar feature in the Cub Studio or the Lion Studio.
We only use the calendar feature in the All Families. And there's a reason for that. That way parents know that all things related to Live Well on the calendar is in that one channel rather than having parents check three different channel calendars. Another way that we communicate to parents is through the parent portal. So this is us updating you on everything from giving you a link to schedule your roadmap calls, which are equivalent to parent-teacher calls. You download important documents. You can get our annual calendar downloaded as a PDF. You can also link that calendar to your phone calendar with the tap of a button. You can see what's happening in your child's studio. You get updates on themes.
You can... Link into your guides daily lesson plans. So much is, it's chock full of information here. Another way we communicate with you is through the student and parent Google folders, shared folders to keep your child's documents and resources organized. This is where we will post progress reports and important announcements. administrative documentation like your contract or parent handbook. So that's another place that we put that.
That's where we will house the repository of all documents. Another way we communicate with you about your child's progress is through progress reports, and those will be given every trimester. You'll get them three times a year. after session two, after session five, and after session seven. We offer two-way communication through a group text chat, which many of you are already communicating with us on. We ask that all communication related to your child take place on the group chat. Please do not text your child's guide independently or directly.
And if you do, your guide is instructed and trained to bring that conversation to the group chat. And the reason why is because that is a way we create redundancy and we have a backup for all communication. If for some reason your guide drops her phone in the toilet, if you are texting her directly, she won't reply. If you text the group chat and I notice that your guide has not replied within a reasonable time, I will reply and I will also make sure communicated with. So please follow policy and process and communicate with your guide in the text chat that we have created for you. One way you can communicate with us is through feedback surveys. We ask that you complete end of session or end of trimester surveys telling us how you score us.
Give us all your feedback, good, bad, and indifferent. I like to tell everybody that before I'm the founder, I'm a mom.
And I don't take things personal. I build this program because I want it to be great for my children and yours. And in many ways, you are my eyes and ears of how things are coming across, how things are being implemented. And I expect things to be delivered. What I like to consider of a Ritz-Carlton type of quality.
And that is how my team is trained. We value you. We value your children. We value your experience. And I want to make sure that it always is delivered and experienced that way. And if it's anything different, I would like to hear about it. And it's not to get anybody in trouble. It's simply so that we can always improve. So please, you can get access to those surveys in the parent portal, which I'm going to discuss, which I did discuss already.
Um, And let me just tell you, the URL to the parent portal is parents.heylivewell.com. And the password is courage17, all lowercase. In order to schedule those roadmap calls, another way to communicate with us, you get those links on the parent portal as well. And although the guides will initiate three calls with you per year, you can initiate a parent roadmap call at any time. And these are just like parent teacher meetings. They don't have to be anything big and formal, even if it's a, hey, can we just have a quick 15-minute conversation?
These calls typically take place over Zoom. the guide can arrange for that as well, but their open time for roadmap calls is every weekday while we are in session from 4 to 5 p.m.
So, Let's talk about how a session works.
We have our calendar is broken up into seven sessions and And it's a trimester calendar. So there are seven, three to six week sessions. And between each session, there's a one week break. The first trimester is session one and two. December is a standalone. Trimester number two is sessions four and five, and trimester three is sessions six and seven. We have one field trip per session. We don't celebrate any holidays. So when we are in session, we're in session for the duration. We don't have any days off or half days there with the exception of, and I'll talk about this later as we do have a family retreat in June and we are closed on a Monday and Tuesday.
So those are the only, that's the only time we close during our in session period. And then, There are three end-of-session showcases that your guide will communicate with you when those dates are, and that is to give you like an exhibition or a proof of learning or some sort of presentation that the children will be doing. And some of those, or maybe one of those, requires your involvement and support and sometimes stage readiness to help with your child.
Drop off and pick up happens. Drop off is as early as 8:30. Our program starts at nine and we, Effectively start instruction at 9.30. So the day starts at 9 with free time, free play, unstructured, which we feel is so valuable, but programming starts at 9.30 with the exception of Fridays. They're starting sumo math at 9.15. So if you value a math program for your child, we encourage early involvement and early attendance on Fridays if that is a day of your schedule. Thank you.
Pickup logistics at the Cub and Lion Studio differ, and those can be found in the parent portal in the family handbook, and you can also find the family handbook in your library. student folder in Google Drive. I will just say that following a 10 minute mile per hour on the private road of Alicelle, we are held accountable to that and also driving slowly through the neighborhood so we can not bring any unnecessary attention to us.
We can be neighborly and not speeding through the neighborhood.
As we're rushing to the studio in the morning, please be cognizant of speed limits.
We We offer homeschool support. I know LiveWell supports most of your homeschool journey, but about 30% of that effort still relies on you and your involvement. We really look to you for your partnership, for your presence, and for your engagement in everything that we're doing. And there's work at home to be done as well. And we... Although we don't assign homework, we expect and encourage that reading happens every day and 10 to 20 minutes of sumo every day takes place in the home as well.
I hope that you'll attend the or read the the Summary notes of the Sumo math session that we have. There's so much to learn about that program. And to give you a disclaimer, Sumo math is a big part of the fabric of everything that we do. It supports live well in many facets, and it is really helping your child's brain development and understanding of arithmetic so that all future math comes easily easily to them.
We have credentialed partners by the name, the company is called Invada. There's two ladies that support us. It's Shauna and Kelly Birch. And they can help with that 30% of homeschooling support that you may need. You could talk to them about your needs. homeschooling goals. You can talk to them about where the gaps are that you see since Live Well doesn't cover everything. They can actually help fill that gap and talk about how they can support you with that. They do offer a membership with them of $50 a month and it comes with four half hour sessions per month.
And they can talk to you about anything and even provide an element of tutoring or educational support for your child. Something else we do to support with your homeschool journey, every session we will send home a companion guide that can support with bridging the learning that happens at Live Well and bridging it at home in different ways and also helping you to relate it to other subjects, other areas of life and help bridge the learning, continue that process at home.
On the parent portal, you will have access to see what your child's guide has planned for every day, so you can continue that learning at home if that's important to you on the days that you're not at Live Well. And so Miss Jenny provides a great detail of everything that she does through every day, so you can keep that updated.
We have many family events to build community all year long. We have an annual dinner that takes place with parents only. That is January 16th, 2027 we encourage you to attend that you get a live well update there and it's also a little bit like a date night we offer a family retreat, which is a two night event that takes place beyond half moon Bay in pesca Darrow and that is. That is... in June, June 6th through 8th. Please save the date, mark your calendars now, and also make your reservations. There are plenty of lodging opportunities. You can bring an RV, you can bring a tent and tent camp, you can rent a tent that is a permanent tent that has electricity.
You can also rent a cabin and you can choose to stay in the lodge. So there are many different options, It's a beautiful property. It's a place for us to come together. We have activities. We have community dinner, potluck.
It is... chock full of activities and the children love it.
We also have kids night out five times a year. Those are that's marked on the calendar. It's a Friday night that extends into the evening from four to seven thirty. So your child stays with us until seven thirty. We do ask for parent volunteers, but it's also an opportunity for parents to have date nights as well. So we need one or two volunteers per night then and we do crafts. Movie nights, we do obstacle courses, scavenger hunts. It's a great time and wonderful bonding.
And we also have international opportunity for all the children and families that we're introducing in the general session to learn. We're doing a project with a school just like Live Well in Switzerland.
And so if you'd like to be a part of that, please reach out to me and your child will have two projects. do with the children in a daily aspect in the Cubs studio. But if you have interest in doing some world schooling with Live Well, it will be during our spring break, and we will be introducing that program soon. Please keep in mind that every family is required to volunteer 25 hours if you have one child, 35 if you have two. And there are many different ways to volunteer. Miss Jenny will open those opportunities up to you. You can also sign up to volunteer in the parent portal.
And you can volunteer at horsemanship, at a building event. You can be a studio assistant. for a field trip and be a driver and chaperone at a field trip. If you choose to attend the field trip with your child, not driving and not chaperoning, that doesn't count for volunteer hours, but all parents are invited to all field trips. And you can also choose to lead a class if you want. We've had parents come in and teach a science class, teach a hands-on roofing project class, arts and crafts. I mean, there's many.
