Finished re-coding major methods from scratch (with a little bit of back and forth between the existing code, my code, and Google) and ran them on a tester file.
One new thing I learned: A JSON array starts and ends with “[]” and a JSON object starts and ends with “{}”. My telemetry data is an array of objects because I just want to be able to go through all the elements—they don’t have any special identifier. And my threshold data is an object of objects, if you will, because each object has an identifier (”temperature,” “battery,” “signal”) and I want to be able to access each element in the {} through its identifier. I’m guessing it’s like a map or dictionary.
What also got me stuck for a while was realizing that defining a function main() was not enough to have it run! I’m used to java, where the main method is the driver, so to speak, of the program. You need a statement to tell it to run the main method.

Unlike Java, you don’t have to specify the data type. It’s hard to keep track of what’s what (ex: if something is an array of objects as opposed to an object of objects, or if something is a String vs. int). I wonder what the workarounds are.
