PolyNoam ("PolyNoam," "we," "us," or "our") provides a browser extension that helps users learn English by identifying vocabulary on web pages, explaining it with definitions and (in the future) tuning your learning experience to an account. This policy explains what information PolyNoam collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

This policy currently covers the PolyNoam browser extension. PolyNoam does not yet have a companion website or web application — if one is released later, this policy will be updated accordingly.

1. Information we collect

• Account information

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information as described in Section 2 below. If you don't sign in, your saved data is stored locally in your browser only, and is not linked to any account.

• We currently do not collect your browsing history at all.
• We do not collect passwords (Google handles authentication; we never see or store your Google password).

2. Google Sign-In (OAuth)

PolyNoam offers optional sign-in using your Google account via Chrome's built-in identity system (chrome.identity). This lets you sync your preferences across devices without creating a separate password.

2.1 What we request

When you sign in with Google, PolyNoam requests access to your basic Google account profile information, specifically:

• Your email address
• Your basic profile information (name, profile picture), if provided by your Google account

PolyNoam does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts, or any other Google service or data beyond basic profile identification.

2.2 How sign-in works

The sign-in flow is handled entirely by Chrome and Google using the chrome.identity API — your Google credentials are never entered into or seen by PolyNoam. Once Google issues an authentication token, PolyNoam's backend server verifies that token directly with Google to confirm your identity and retrieve your basic profile information, then creates or updates your PolyNoam account accordingly.

2.3 Why we use it

Google Sign-In is used solely to create and conveniently secure your PolyNoam account and to associate your saved preferences and, in the future, vocabulary and progress with that account so it can sync across your devices.
