Due to Meifang’s upbringing not really speaking to anyone but his adopted father throughout his teen years, he is guarded with almost everyone he meets. I would say “people he doesn’t know well”-- but that’s the point, he doesn’t really know anyone well, and has trapped himself in the cycle of being too afraid to pursue that. While he does enjoy attention from the crowd when he performs, he is immediately suspicious of any praise directed towards him when separate from the persona.
Despite his Ionian birth and the way his adopted father treated him as a child, Meifang is fiercely loyal to him and the Noxian cause. The fact that he was abandoned when troops were pulled from Ionia is a source of infinite shame and insecurity for him. He hasn’t seen his father in years, and he finds himself missing him more and more every day as he spends longer time away from the only person he ever built a real human connection with.
Because of his training as a spy, Meifang is able to present himself as friendly and trustworthy on the exterior. He hates it. He hates being nice to people he doesn’t actually like, and he doesn’t actually like anyone, but he sees no other choice than to wait it out in his current job, which does require a lot of smiling and waving and chatting with patrons. Sometimes he slips a little and lets a rude reprimand come out, but he always folds and becomes almost embarrassingly apologetic immediately.
Although not necessarily a pacifist, Meifang has a great deal of trauma from what he had to deal with growing up. He hates the idea of harming children, and in general has trouble with weapons that involve getting “up close and personal.” Both of these things are shameful for him just as much as his failure to kill Irelia is, so he tries to compensate by being proficient in making and administering poison, but he hasn’t really gotten to the point of doing that, either.
