Calliope is an ambitious woman with dreams of becoming a heroine fit for a storybook. Her dreams border on obsession, to the point that she almost gets tunnel vision on her goals. Because of her perceived previous “failing” in her stint in the Demacian military, she is eager to impress anyone of importance in the government or military of her country. She has absolutely no qualms with putting herself in mortal danger to show off, often riding into battle on Mercy (her winged horse, I have a personality/explanation for that later) to give unwanted help with battles along the Noxian border, which she lives close to.

Despite Calliope’s insistence to impress people of importance in Demacia, she still does find it important to be a hero to everyday people as well. She actively looks for problems, patrolling the roads near her residence from the sky, with the goal of sweeping down and saving people. When there’s no fight, she generally finds some other way to help, even with the most mundane of jobs.

She is, however, not too great at social interaction. Although she does speak to people when out doing her vigilante “job” if needed, her way of introducing herself is stiff and practiced, like a bad performance. Although she wants to seem heroic, friendly, and inspiring, she is in reality quite awkward and even occasionally overly serious. In addition, she is quite sensitive to criticism.

Although she tries to believe that she can save everyone, deep down she knows that is not true. Mercy, however, say things that deliberately feed into the idea that she can, so that it’s all the more crushing when she can’t.

Explanation of this “Mercy” stuff

Since this would feel weird to explain fully in backstory, I’ll explain it here: Mercy is a winged horse that Calliope rides into battle. It has a psychic link to her and is her closest partner and confidant. Mercy is, however, a demon in disguise. This particular demon feeds on shame, and its goal is to attach itself to one specific mark and goad them into having tunnel vision on their dream to the point where everything is in service to that. It then harvests shame from them by either making every defeat all the more crushing, or goading them into doing things that go against their code in service of a dream they feel they would be nothing without. It takes the form of whatever its mark sees as a way to accomplish their goals, and to Calliope, it was a winged horse out of a storybook. Its feeding strategy involves playing the long con, attaching itself to and essentially farming shame from one person until they die and it has to find another. It cannot sever the psychic link while its current pair is still alive.

Appearance wise, it is a winged white horse with a gold mane and tail and black eyes. There is a gold gem on its forehead that, when the glamour is worn off, turns into a third eye. When Mercy is not in its highest disguised form, eyes sprout all over its body. This is the one trait that is true across all of the demon’s forms, seeing as it is not always a horse (as it changes form based on whoever it's targeting.)
