PetStory stores the pet profile details, stories, photos, voice recordings, manual notes, settings, and export content that you choose to create in the app. The app may also collect anonymous usage events and performance data if telemetry is enabled, along with crash reports for stability. If you enable cloud AI narration, a single anonymous text request may be sent to the selected AI service for that story only, after your explicit consent.
We use your information to create and save pet stories, sync data across your devices, generate weekly recaps, support exports, and keep the app working reliably. Anonymous analytics help us understand app performance, feature usage, and crashes. Optional cloud AI is used only to rewrite a spoken note into story text when you ask for it and consent to that feature.
PetStory is local-first. Your content is stored on your device and can sync through your private iCloud container. We do not run our own backend server for user content. The app uses platform security features, including iOS data protection and Keychain for sensitive configuration such as AI credentials.
PetStory relies on Apple services such as iCloud and CloudKit, StoreKit, and the system speech framework. If you enable cloud AI narration, the app sends the minimum text needed to the selected AI provider. If you disable telemetry, anonymous usage and crash reporting are not collected.
You can export your data, delete your data, turn off telemetry, revoke cloud AI consent, and disable notifications from within the app or device settings. You can also edit or remove individual stories and manage pet profiles at any time.
PetStory is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy when the app, platform requirements, or legal obligations change. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and present the revised policy in the app.
