- INTRODUCTION
Harbor Pantry (“the App”) helps you organize household food, manage inventory, plan meals, prepare shopping lists, and schedule reminders.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, where it is stored, when it may leave your device, and how you can manage it. It also explains how we handle information you voluntarily provide when contacting us.
Harbor Pantry is provided by [Full Legal Name of Developer or Company], located at [Business Address, Country] (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
For privacy questions or requests, contact [Privacy Contact Email].
- OUR APPROACH TO PRIVACY
Harbor Pantry operates locally on your device. You do not need to create an account or provide an email address to use it.
In the current version:
• Your pantry information is stored and processed on your device.
• The App does not send your pantry records, notes, or product photos to us.
• We do not operate a server that stores your pantry information.
• The App does not include advertising, third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
• The App does not automatically synchronize your pantry information between devices.
• Reminders are scheduled locally through your device’s notification system.
Information may leave your device if you choose to export or share it, contact us with information attached, or use device backup and other system services. These situations are explained below.
- INFORMATION STORED AND PROCESSED ON YOUR DEVICE
The information stored by Harbor Pantry depends on the features you use and the details you enter.
3.1. Household Profile
The App may store:
• A household name or label.
• The number of people in your household.
• Your preferred measurement unit and currency.
• Your preferred start of the week.
• Dietary notes you choose to enter.
• Profile creation and modification dates.
Your household profile is a local configuration for the App. It is not an online account.
3.2. Food Inventory and Storage
The App may store:
• Product names, categories, quantities, and measurement units.
• Storage zones, including their names, types, capacities, and notes.
• Purchase dates, opened dates, and use-by dates you enter.
• Optional product prices.
• Product notes and tags.
• Product photos you attach.
• Archive status and record creation or modification dates.
Prices and currency settings are used to organize information you enter. The App does not request payment card details or bank account information.
3.3. Dishes and Meal Planning
The App may store:
• Dish names and categories.
• Ingredients and quantities.
• Preparation instructions and cooking times.
• Servings and guest counts.
• Dietary tags and allergen notes.
• Planned meal dates, meal slots, and related notes.
3.4. Shopping, Preparation, and Leftovers
The App may store shopping list entries, purchase status, preparation tasks, task schedules, completion information, leftover records, and related notes.
Some records are generated locally from your existing information, such as a shopping list based on ingredients missing from your meal plan.
3.5. History, Insights, and Preferences
The App may maintain a local history of actions such as adding, editing, using, discarding, purchasing, moving, archiving, restoring, or merging products.
It also stores preferences and operational information, such as onboarding status, reminder settings, selected filters, and completed-week records.
The App uses locally generated record identifiers and timestamps to organize information. These identifiers are not advertising identifiers and are not transmitted to us for tracking.
Insights are calculated on your device from your pantry records and activity history.
- HOW THE APP USES YOUR INFORMATION
Harbor Pantry processes locally stored information to:
• Display and organize your household pantry.
• Track quantities and storage locations.
• Group products according to dates you enter.
• Match available ingredients to planned dishes.
• Adjust ingredient quantities for servings and guests.
• Identify missing ingredients and prepare shopping lists.
• Organize preparation tasks and leftovers.
• Schedule reminders you request.
• Display activity history and pantry insights.
• Remember your preferences.
• Export or import records when you choose those features.
We do not use your pantry information for advertising, marketing profiles, data brokerage, or training artificial intelligence models.
- DIETARY, ALLERGEN, AND OTHER SENSITIVE INFORMATION
Dietary notes, allergen notes, photographs, and other free-text fields may contain personal or sensitive information if you choose to include it.
These fields are optional. You can use the App without entering medical information, personal identifiers, or details about other people.
Harbor Pantry stores dietary and allergen notes as user-provided text. It does not interpret them to diagnose conditions, establish medical profiles, or make food-safety assessments.
This information remains subject to the same local storage, export, backup, and deletion practices described in this Policy. In particular, text notes may be included in an exported data file.
- CAMERA AND PHOTO LIBRARY ACCESS
You may choose to attach a photo to a product by taking a picture or selecting an image from your photo library.
The App uses camera or photo library access for this feature and requests system permission where required. Selected images may be resized and compressed before a copy is saved in the App’s local storage.
The App does not automatically upload product photos to us or scan your photo library in the background.
You can manage camera and photo permissions in your device settings. If you decline access, you can continue using the App without the affected photo feature.
Removing a photo stored by the App does not delete the original image from your system photo library.
- LOCAL NOTIFICATIONS
With your permission, Harbor Pantry can schedule local notifications for dates and preparation tasks you select.
To provide this feature, the App passes the notification text and scheduled time to your device’s notification system. It does not use a developer-operated remote push notification service.
Notifications may include product names, task names, or other details associated with a reminder. Depending on your device settings, this information may appear on the lock screen or in notification previews.
You can turn reminders off in the App and manage notification permissions and previews in your device settings. Turning reminders off in the App cancels pending notifications scheduled by Harbor Pantry.
Previously delivered notifications may remain visible until you clear them through the system notification interface.
- EXPORTING, SHARING, AND IMPORTING DATA
8.1. Exporting Your Records
The “Export Everything” feature creates a JSON file containing your structured pantry records, including your household profile, preferences, inventory, storage zones, dishes, meal plans, shopping items, preparation tasks, leftovers, and history.
The export may contain personal or sensitive information you entered in notes or other fields.
The current export includes references to product photo filenames but does not embed the photo files themselves.
The App does not add password protection or its own encryption to the exported JSON file. Anyone who can access the file may be able to read its contents.
8.2. Sharing an Export
You decide whether to save or share an export through the system share interface.
If you select an email service, messaging application, cloud storage provider, or another destination, that service will handle the file under its own terms and privacy practices.
Harbor Pantry does not automatically send exported files to us. We receive an export only if you choose to provide it to us.
8.3. Importing Records
The App accesses the file you select, validates its contents, and shows an import preview before you confirm replacement of your existing records.
Importing replaces the App’s current records with information from the selected file, subject to its import behavior. It does not delete the original import file from its storage location.
- DEVICE BACKUPS AND APPLE SERVICES
Although Harbor Pantry stores its working data locally, your device’s backup services may copy App data elsewhere.
Depending on your settings, App records and photos may be included in iCloud Backup or a computer backup. Apple explains that iCloud Backup can include data from downloaded apps. See Apple’s information about iCloud Backup.
These backups are separate from any synchronization feature within Harbor Pantry. We do not receive or control your device backups.
If you restore a device backup, previously stored App information may be restored as well.
Apple may separately process information relating to App Store downloads, platform usage, diagnostics, and other Apple services under its own privacy notices. Harbor Pantry does not include its own analytics or crash-reporting SDK, but that does not disable information processing performed independently by Apple.
For information about App Store processing, see Apple’s App Store & Privacy notice.
- INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE WHEN CONTACTING US
If you contact us by email or another support channel, we receive the information you choose to send. This may include:
• Your name or email address.
• The contents of your message.
• Screenshots or attachments.
• Device or App version details you provide.
• An exported pantry file, if you attach one.
We use this information to respond to your request, investigate reported problems, and handle privacy inquiries.
Support does not give us remote access to your pantry. Please include only the information relevant to your request.
Support communications may be processed by the email or communication provider used to receive and respond to them.
- SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your locally stored pantry information is not automatically disclosed to us or to third-party advertising or analytics providers.
Information may be handled by others in the following circumstances:
• You choose to export or share it.
• Your device or backup settings cause it to be processed by a system or storage provider.
• You contact us through an email or support provider.
• We are legally required to disclose information that we actually hold, such as support correspondence.
• Disclosure of information we hold is necessary and lawful to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We cannot disclose pantry records stored only on your device that we have never received.
- RETENTION AND DELETION
12.1. Local Records
The App generally retains local records until you edit, delete, or replace them, or remove the App and its associated data.
Archiving a record preserves it in the App. Archiving is not deletion.
12.2. Available Controls
You can manage your information using the App’s editing and data-management features.
• “Clear History” removes recorded activity history while preserving other pantry records.
• Resetting or deleting the household profile resets household settings; it does not delete your products, dishes, or plans.
• “Delete All Data” resets the local database, cancels pending reminders, and removes photos referenced by the current product records.
12.3. Copies That May Remain
In-app deletion does not delete:
• Files you previously exported or shared.
• Copies held by recipients or external services.
• Existing device or cloud backups.
• Original images in your system photo library.
• Information you previously sent to support.
Temporary export files or photo files no longer referenced by current records may remain in the App’s storage until removed by the operating system or through deletion of the App and its associated data.
Offloading the App may preserve its documents and data. To remove its local storage, use the device’s option to delete the App and its data.
12.4. Support Correspondence
We retain support and privacy correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to address the request, maintain relevant follow-up records, resolve disputes, or meet applicable legal obligations.
Retention depends on the nature of the request and any applicable legal requirements.
- SECURITY
Harbor Pantry stores its records within the App’s local storage and relies on the protections provided by your device and operating system.
The App does not provide a separate account password or additional application-level encryption for its local JSON database or exported files.
Protecting your device with a passcode, keeping the operating system updated, and controlling access to backups and exports help protect your information.
No storage method or security measure can guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure.
- YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
These rights depend on the circumstances and the legal basis for processing. The European Data Protection Board provides an overview in its guidance on individuals’ rights.
For information stored only on your device, the App’s editing, export, and deletion features provide the practical means to manage it. We cannot remotely access, correct, export, or delete records that we do not hold.
For information you have provided to us, contact [Privacy Contact Email]. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify and handle your request, and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- LEGAL BASES FOR INFORMATION WE RECEIVE
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we process information you send us according to the purpose and circumstances:
• To provide support you request in connection with the App.
• For our legitimate interests in responding to inquiries, investigating problems, and protecting our legal rights, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
• To comply with legal obligations, including applicable privacy requests.
• On the basis of consent where consent is required.
An operating system permission, such as permission to use the camera or display notifications, controls the corresponding device feature. It does not authorize unrelated uses of your information.
- INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING
Harbor Pantry does not automatically transfer your locally stored pantry records to developer-operated servers in another country.
If you use cloud backups, share exported files, or contact support, the services involved may process information in countries other than your own.
Where we arrange an international transfer of personal information subject to legal transfer restrictions, we will use the safeguards required by applicable law.
- CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Harbor Pantry is a general household organization application and is not specifically directed to children.
The App does not require a date of birth, create online user accounts, or automatically transmit pantry information to us.
If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us through support or another communication channel, contact [Privacy Contact Email] so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
- CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, our practices, or applicable requirements.
The “Last Updated” date identifies the most recent revision. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes and obtain consent before introducing processing that requires it.
