Flashback is a private journal. The short version: your memories belong to you, they stay on your device by default, and we never sell your data or show you ads. The details are below.

What Flashback stores

Your memories. Photos, captions, dates, and (if you allow it) the location where a memory was captured. On the free plan these are stored only on your device — they are never uploaded anywhere.

Purchase information. If you subscribe to Premium, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple. We receive a confirmation of your subscription status, never your payment details.

Usage analytics. We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (for example, which screens are used most) to improve the app. This never includes the content of your memories.

If you turn on Premium sync

Premium lets you sync and back up memories across devices. When sync is on:

If you use AI features

Premium AI features (like enriched memory details and smarter search) process the photo and text of a memory with trusted AI service providers to generate results. This content is used only to provide the feature to you and is not used to train third-party models.
