1. Overview
SolarTrack ("SolarTrack", "we", "our", or "us") builds an offline-first sun tracking and light-planning application for photographers and outdoor creators. We are committed to a zero-collection by default approach: the app is designed so that most of your usage happens entirely on your device without personal data being sent to us.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the SolarTrack app processes, how it is used, and the rights you have. It applies to the SolarTrack mobile application and its accompanying widgets, extensions and website.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information required for the feature you use. In practice, this can be grouped as follows.
2.1 Information you provide
- Favorites, preferences and app settings. Locations you save, your notification offsets, appearance and language preferences.
- Feedback and support messages. If you email us at
[email protected], we receive the content of your message, your email address, and any details you choose to include.
2.2 Information accessed on your device
- Approximate or precise location. Requested only when you enable location-dependent features (for example, computing sunrise and sunset for your current position). Location is used on-device to run astronomical calculations. It is not written to our servers.
- Local notification preferences. Stored on your device via the operating system's notification framework in order to schedule reminders.
- Subscription entitlement. Managed through Apple's StoreKit. We receive the anonymous transaction result required to unlock Pro features; we do not receive your payment card, address or Apple ID email.
2.3 Information sent to our servers only when you use specific Premium features
- Coordinate lookups. When the app requests a weather or cloud cover forecast for a chosen location, a request containing the latitude and longitude of that location is sent to our backend or to a third-party weather provider. No user identifier is attached.
- AI Light Assistant prompts. When you ask the AI Light Assistant for a recommendation, the location, sun phase, weather summary and your stated intent are transmitted to our backend (which may forward them to a third-party large-language-model provider) in order to generate the reply. Requests are not linked to a user account and are not retained for training.
- Location name search. When you type into the search box, the query text is sent to a geocoding provider to return matching place names and coordinates.
2.4 Information we do NOT collect
- No account registration, no username, no password.
