This Privacy Policy explains what information Neat collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what's needed to make Neat work for you.
To understand how Neat is used and to make it better, we collect product-analytics events through PostHog — for example app opens, sending a message, approving reminders, signing in, and whether you used voice or text. These events are linked to your account identifier and may include your email/name as profile properties, plus standard technical details such as device model, operating system, app version, and approximate region. We also keep simple counters of your AI request activity (such as how many requests you've made today) to enforce the free-plan and rate limits described in our Terms. We do not collect the contents of your reminders or transcripts as analytics.
When you record, your speech is transcribed into text using Apple's on-device/system speech recognition. To turn that text into structured reminders, the transcript is sent to our backend (Supabase) and to Google's Gemini AI. We don't sell your recordings or transcripts, and we use them only to provide the reminder features.
We use your information to: transcribe and interpret your input; create and organize reminders you approve; sync your data across your devices; send the notifications you enable; provide and manage subscriptions; understand and improve how the app is used; enforce free-plan and rate limits; and keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
Reminders are stored on your device (via Apple's SwiftData) and, when you're signed in, synced to our backend on Supabase, where each user's data is isolated by row-level security so only you can access yours.
