This policy explains which data the HopOut app (iPhone, iPad and Android) handles, why, and what your rights are.
1. Who we are
Kest Labs, SASU with a share capital of €1,000
60 Rue François 1er, 75008 Paris, France
RCS Paris 814 428 785
Contact: [email protected]
Kest Labs publishes HopOut and is the controller of your data.
2. What is stored on your device
HopOut has no account and no server of its own. Your name, your profile photo, your answers to the setup questions, your sessions and statistics, your schedules and limits, your rewards and your settings are stored on your device.
- iPhone and iPad. If you use iCloud Backup, this data is included in your device's backup, which Kest Labs cannot access. Blocking relies on Apple's Screen Time API, which keeps the apps you choose hidden from HopOut: HopOut never knows which apps or websites you use or block, and has no access to your browsing history, your apps' content or your Apple ID.
- Android. If Android backup is turned on, this data is included in your Google account's encrypted backup, which Kest Labs cannot access. To block the apps you choose, HopOut reads the list of installed apps and, through usage access, which app is in the foreground and the time spent in each. This happens on your device. HopOut has no access to your apps' content, your messages, your browsing history or your Google account. On phones where Android does not allow display over other apps (Android Go), HopOut uses Android's accessibility service instead, only to show its blocking screen or return to the home screen; it does not read what is on your screen.
3. What is sent, and to whom
PostHog: usage statistics
PostHog stores this data in the European Union.
- A random identifier created by the app.
- The name you enter in the app.
- How you use HopOut: screens, sessions and their length, blocks, challenges, rewards, purchases, settings, and the type and times of your schedules and limits.
- Your answers to the setup questions: age range, gender, occupation, goal, how you heard about HopOut, current and target screen time.
- Your language.
- Whether the permissions and settings HopOut needs are on (Screen Time and notifications on iPhone; on Android, usage access, display over other apps or the accessibility service, notifications, battery optimization and, on some phones, background pop-ups and autostart), the Android settings pages opened from HopOut, and your ad consent choice.
- Technical information, such as device model, system and app versions.
- Your IP address, from which an approximate location is derived.
