Trekko ("the app") is developed by Ivan Gavrilov. This policy explains what the app does with your data. Plain language, no lawyer padding.

There are no Trekko accounts. You never give us an email, a password, or a phone number.

What stays on your device

• Health data. Trekko reads your step count and walking distance from Apple Health to move you along your route. This data is read on your device and is never uploaded to our servers or sold to anyone. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Trekko.
• Your routes. Active routes, completed routes, custom start and finish points, and app settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes all of it.
• Your profile. The display name and photo you set in Settings live on your device. They leave it only if you join a challenge — see below.

Challenges (optional)

Challenges let you walk a shared route with other people. They are entirely optional: if you never create or join one, nothing described in this section happens.

When you create or join a challenge, the following is stored in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit public database) so other participants can see it:

• your display name and profile photo, as set in the app
• your distance walked and step count within that challenge
• when you joined and, if you get there, when you finished
• the challenge name, its start and finish points, and its route
• an anonymous iCloud user identifier that distinguishes participants (it is not your Apple ID, name, or email)

Who can see it: anyone who has the challenge's invite code or link. Treat an invite code like a shared link — send it only to people you want in the challenge. Use a nickname and skip the photo if you would rather not be identifiable.

Where it lives: Apple's iCloud infrastructure, under our app's CloudKit container. Apple processes it as our service provider under Apple's Privacy Policy.

How to remove it: leaving a challenge deletes your participant record from it. Deleting a challenge you created removes the challenge and its participant records. Uninstalling the app does not by itself delete records already in a challenge — leave the challenge first, or email us and we will remove them.

Notifications

Trekko sends local notifications for your own progress milestones and optional walking reminders. If you take part in a challenge, the app subscribes to updates in that challenge so it can notify you when another participant finishes. Notifications can be turned off in iOS Settings.
