Effective Date: June 25, 2026
NutriScore ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we collect it, how we use it, and who we share it with when you use our mobile application (NutriScore). Please read it carefully.
- Information We Collect and How We Collect It
- Account Information: when you sign in, we collect your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. This is collected directly from you at sign-in.
- Dietary Preferences and Goal: the dietary tags and health goal you select during onboarding or in Settings. Collected directly from you.
- Subscription and Purchase Data: your premium status, plan (Monthly/Yearly), free-trial state, and transaction history, received from Apple and our payments provider (RevenueCat). We never collect or store your payment card details; all payments are processed by Apple Inc.
- Scan Activity: the barcodes you scan and the products you view, collected automatically as you use the app.
- Device and Diagnostic Data: device type, operating system version, app version, and crash/diagnostic logs, collected automatically to maintain and improve the app. We do NOT use advertising identifiers (IDFA) and we do NOT track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- How We Use Your Information
- To operate the app and manage your subscription or free trial.
- To analyze the products you scan and generate AI-powered nutrition insights.
- To personalize your analysis using your dietary preferences and goal.
- To provide support and to maintain, secure, and improve the app.
- Data Sharing and Third-Party AI Services
We do not sell your personal data. To deliver AI-powered product analysis, we send the following to our AI provider, OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C., United States): the scanned product's name and its ingredient and nutrition information, together with the dietary preferences and health goal you selected. We do NOT send your name, email, account identifiers, or location to OpenAI. OpenAI processes this data solely to generate your analysis and, under its API data-usage policy, does not use it to train its models. Before any data is sent to OpenAI, we ask for your explicit in-app consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.
We also use the following service providers, each acting on our behalf and contractually bound to protect your data to a standard equivalent to this policy: Supabase (authentication, profile and scan-history storage), PostHog (privacy-friendly product analytics), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Apple and Google (sign-in). Product details are retrieved from the public Open Food Facts database using only the barcode.
- Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide our services. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's Settings via the "Delete Account" button. Once requested, your personal data and subscription history are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
- Children's Privacy
NutriScore is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.
- Your Rights
Depending on your region (including under GDPR and KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us.
