Plated ("we", "us") turns cooking videos, photos, and text into structured recipes. This policy explains what we handle and why. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Plated does not require you to sign up, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth. When the app first launches, it creates an anonymous identifier through Firebase Authentication. This identifier is a random string. It is not linked to your Apple ID, your email, or your identity, and it exists only so we can apply fair-use limits and remember whether you have an active subscription.
Your recipes, cookbooks, grocery list, cooking history, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not upload your recipe library to our servers. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
Importing is the only time content leaves your device, and it only happens when you actively start an import.
OpenAI processes this content on our behalf as a service provider. Under OpenAI's API data policy, content submitted through the API is not used to train their models. We do not retain the media you submit after the recipe has been generated.
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. We never see or receive your payment card, billing address, or Apple ID. We use RevenueCat to tell the app whether your subscription is active; RevenueCat receives the anonymous identifier described above and the purchase receipt issued by Apple.
We do not use advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use third-party analytics. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles.
A record tied to your anonymous identifier holding your import counts (used to enforce free-tier limits) and your subscription status. That is all.
