Latest Update: June 2026
Study First, Screen Later (the "App") provides a "Child Mode" that manages your child's smartphone screen time in connection with their learning, and a "Self Mode" that helps you manage your own focus time.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and for what purpose.
All information stored by the App is saved only on your device. No information is ever transmitted to any external server or cloud service. The App performs no network communication, and all features operate entirely offline.
The App uses Apple's Screen Time API (the FamilyControls and DeviceActivity frameworks) to control app locking. This is an official mechanism that Apple provides for parents. To use this feature, the App has been reviewed and approved by Apple for use of the FamilyControls entitlement.
The only thing the Screen Time feature does is restrict and release access to the apps you select.
The App does not record logs of your child's app usage, and does not transmit any Screen Time–related data externally.
Child Mode stores the following information on your device.
As parent settings, the App stores the parent PIN code (a 4-digit number), learning settings such as drill type, number of questions, and reward points, the selection of apps to be locked, the child's grade level, and the maximum point limit. This information is used solely to provide the features of Child Mode.
As the child's learning records, the App stores drill answer history (number of correct answers and progress), the remaining point balance, and the current position in the question sequence for Alphabet and Word Practice drills (so that practice can resume where it left off). All of this information exists only on the device and is never transmitted externally.
Self Mode is a feature that lets parents or adults limit their own smartphone usage time. The App stores the following information on your device.
