SuperChat Manager
Last updated: October 24, 2026
SuperChat Manager ("the extension") is designed with privacy as a foundational principle. The extension operates entirely within your browser and processes YouTube live stream chat data locally on your device.
What Data We Collect and Process
When you open a YouTube live stream or live chat replay while the extension is active, SuperChat Manager processes:
- Live Chat Events: Public Super Chats, Super Stickers, Super Thanks, channel memberships, gifted memberships, and live chat text messages appearing in the stream's public chat.
- Event Metadata: Supporter display names, event amounts and currencies, timestamps, user-provided chat messages, and public avatar image URLs provided by YouTube.
- Stream Information: YouTube stream title, URL, and video identifier.
- User Settings: Your local preferences for sound chime volume, alert thresholds, notification preferences, badge display mode, and OBS overlay styling.
How Data Is Stored
- Local Storage Only: All captured stream events, session logs, donor totals, and user preferences are saved strictly locally on your machine using Chrome's extension storage (
chrome.storage.local and temporary in-memory chrome.storage.session).
- No Cloud Synchronization: The extension does not use cloud sync (
chrome.storage.sync) or remote databases.
- Automatic Capacity Limits: To prevent excessive local storage use, data is automatically capped at 25 recent streams, up to 500 chat messages and 5,000 paid events per session, and a global safety cap of 60,000 events.
How Data Is Used
Collected data is used exclusively to provide the extension's user-facing features:
- Displaying the live side panel feed, event history, and filtering by event type.
- Calculating running revenue totals, currency breakdowns, and supporter leaderboards.
- Triggering local desktop notifications and Web Audio chimes according to your configured thresholds.
- Displaying alert cards in the local OBS overlay window (
obs-source.html).
- Generating client-side recap images and plain-text summaries using HTML5 Canvas on your machine.
