TabeLens is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tabelog, Kakaku.com or Google.
The extension reads the selected place's displayed name, local-language name, address, phone number, category, Google Maps place ID and coordinates from supported Google Maps pages. It uses this information to find the corresponding Tabelog restaurant and avoid showing another restaurant's rating. It does not request device geolocation or read general browsing history.
The extension sends search terms derived from the place's names to tabelog.com. When the address states a Japanese prefecture, the search is limited to that prefecture, so Tabelog also receives the prefecture. The extension then requests relevant restaurant detail pages. Tabelog receives these search terms, the prefecture, requested URLs and normal network metadata such as the IP address. The extension does not upload the full address, phone number, place ID or coordinates. Background requests omit cookies and other browser credentials.
The extension runs only for places in Japan; for other places it sends nothing.
When the extension cannot show a rating because the restaurant was not found, a possible match could not be verified, several restaurants could match, the search did not finish, or Tabelog access is restricted, you can click the status text. This opens a Google search for the restaurant name on tabelog.com in a new tab, so Google receives the name. Nothing is sent to Google unless you click.
When you hover over a Google search link, its hover text shows the search URL that the link opens. When you hover over a rating or "no rating yet", the hover text shows the Tabelog restaurant name, which the extension reads from the Tabelog page it already requests. These hover texts are shown only in your browser and do not change what is sent to Tabelog or Google.
Clicking a rating or "no rating yet" opens Tabelog in a normal browser tab, where that website's own cookie and privacy practices apply. The extension does not operate Tabelog or Google Maps. Review their current privacy notices before use.
Verified results are stored only in the extension's local browser storage. Each record is identified by the Google Maps place ID and contains the place's visible name, local-language name, address, phone and Maps category text, the result, the Tabelog restaurant name, rating, Tabelog award labels, source link and fetch time. Failed or negative results are not stored. Diagnostics for the last 20 lookups (search terms, the Maps category, candidate Tabelog pages with their genres and the evidence used, and the result with its reason code) are kept in memory-only session storage and are cleared when the browser closes. They are not synchronized through a publisher service.
A confirmed restaurant identity is kept for up to 30 days; its rating is refreshed from the Tabelog page after 24 hours. Places whose search found nothing are remembered only in memory for up to 6 hours in the current browser session. Expired records are removed on a later successful cache write; expiration does not guarantee immediate disk deletion. The cache holds at most 200 records. Uninstalling the extension removes its local data.
The extension uses the information only to match restaurants and display source ratings. It contains no publisher analytics, advertising tracker or publisher-operated backend. It does not sell data. Its requests to Tabelog are necessary for the rating lookup and reveal which restaurant is being searched.
Disable the extension to stop further automatic lookups. Remove it to delete its local cache. These actions do not delete logs already held by third-party websites.
When the extension's data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures are updated before the new version is published, and the date above changes. Check this page for the latest revision.
