1. Overview & Commitment

Your privacy is extremely important to us. Web2MD Exporter ("we", "our", or "the extension") is designed with a strict Privacy-First Architecture.

The extension operates 100% locally inside your web browser. We do not collect, track, store, transmit, or sell any of your personal data, web browsing history, or page content to external servers.

2. Information Collection & Usage

2.1 Web Page Content & Text Selection

• What happens: When you click the extension popup or use the multi-tab batch exporter, the extension extracts the active webpage's HTML DOM structure or highlighted text and converts it into Markdown (.md) format.
• Where it stays: All content parsing, Readability filtering, and Notion block conversion happen strictly inside your local browser instance. No webpage content or extracted text ever leaves your computer.

2.2 User Settings & Preferences

• What happens: Your settings (such as YAML frontmatter toggles, image inclusion preferences, and link inclusion preferences) are saved using the browser's chrome.storage.local API.
• Where it stays: These preferences remain stored exclusively on your device and are never synchronized or transmitted externally.

3. Explanation of Browser Permissions

To function properly, Web2MD Exporter requests the following minimum required permissions:

• activeTab & scripting: Used strictly to inspect and extract HTML DOM content from the current active tab when you trigger the extension.
• tabs: Used exclusively by the Multi-Tab Batch Exporter feature to list open tabs in the current window and query their contents when you explicitly click "Merge & Export (.md)".
• storage: Used to save your extension settings locally on your computer.
