Scope of this notice we are

This notice applies only to the information you submit through this form. It does not cover any recording, interview, or contribution to a podcast, book, video, online archive, or other output you may later choose to take part in. If you're invited to participate directly, you'll be asked to review and sign a separate consent and release agreement before anything is recorded or published (see below).

Who we are

This is an independent, personal passion project researching the history of roller derby in Europe and the UK, currently run by Aagje Vanden Bussche, who is the data controller responsible for the personal data collected through this form. For any questions, contact Aagje Vanden Bussche at [email protected].

What we collect and why

Through this form, we collect the information you choose to share: your stories and anecdotes, facts and figures, tips about people to contact, links to photos, illustrations, posters, flyers, informational pages, online archives, or other material, your league(s) and role, and, if you agree, your contact details for potential follow-up.

We do not publish this information directly, whether in a podcast, book, video, online archive, or any other current or future output. It's used to guide our research: to help us decide who to reach out to, and to identify and verify facts and events through cross-checking. If this leads us to contact you or someone you mentioned for further participation, that's covered separately (see "If you're invited to participate directly" below).

Links you share are stored for reference only. Sharing a link doesn't make you the rights holder of what it leads to, and it doesn't give us permission to use it. If we ever want to use a photo, illustration, poster, flyer, or other material in a podcast, book, video, online archive, or other output, we'll identify and contact the actual rights holder separately and seek their explicit permission before any use.

Some of what you share, such as historical facts, dates, or events that can be independently verified or are already publicly available, isn't information you own exclusively. Sharing it with us doesn't give you control over whether or how we research, verify, or use it. It simply helps point our research in the right direction. This is different from your own personal stories and experiences, which remain your personal data and are handled as such.

We rely on your consent as the legal basis for this processing. You can choose whether your name is used or your contribution stays anonymous, and separately, whether you're open to being contacted again.

Anonymous submissions and third-party leads

If you submit anonymously, any facts, tips, or names you provide will be independently verified against other sources before we act on them. Where this leads us to contact a third party (for example, someone you named as a potential contributor), that person will be informed of the source of the lead where relevant and asked for their own separate consent before we use anything they share.

If you're invited to participate directly

Filling in this form does not commit you to appearing in a podcast, book, video, online archive, or other output, and does not grant us rights to record or publish anything beyond what's stated here. If we invite you to record an interview or contribute directly, you'll be asked to sign a separate, explicit consent and release form before any recording happens. That document will cover things like how your voice, name, image, or video may be used and distributed, which this form does not.

This form stays open even after we start producing or launch a podcast, online archive, book, or other output. Submitting information here does not mean it's automatically added to an output already in production. That still requires the separate consent described above.
