Project Overview

This project involved deploying a static website on an Ubuntu EC2 instance hosted within a custom AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The deployment included configuring the network infrastructure, connecting remotely via SSH, installing and configuring Nginx as the web server, deploying website content, configuring DNS for a custom domain, enabling HTTPS using Let's Encrypt, and troubleshooting connectivity issues encountered throughout the deployment.

The project provided practical experience across multiple layers of cloud infrastructure, Linux system administration, networking, web hosting, and security.

Power Systems / Energy Industry Connection Provisioning isolated network infrastructure before deploying a public-facing service mirrors how utility engineers segment OT (operational technology) networks from IT networks before commissioning SCADA or substation automation systems. In both cases, the network boundary; VPC and Security Groups here, VLANs and firewalls in a substation, is designed and locked down before any service goes live, not retrofitted afterward.
