High Concept

Kill, defend, and kill again. Chronological anomalies have fractured a single assassination into multiple overlapping timelines. Every cycle leaves behind a temporal ghost that shows up in future cycles and repeats its actions. Can you survive through enough cycles for the timeline to repair itself?

Game Concept

Run It Back is a fast-paced action shooter with a time-loop puzzle structure, where the player alternates between playing as an Attacker and a Defender in an assassination across a fixed number of cycles.

Attackers: Reach and eliminate the VIP

Defenders: Stop all Attackers before the VIP is eliminated

Every finished cycle is recorded and replayed in later cycles. Each new cycle fights beside and against the ghosts of the cycles before it.

USP

Improvise against your own past.

Every action you do in a finished cycle is replicated perfectly as a ghost in subsequent cycles. Utilise this knowledge to discover new ways to improvise against changing levels and new hazards with every new cycle.

  1. Expression. Combine your knowledge of your past actions with distinct character identities, equipment, and roles to kill ghosts and the VIP according to your own playstyle.
  2. Challenge. Overcome changing levels, new hazards, and your past cycles to kill as many of your past cycles as possible, and reach and kill the VIP as quickly as possible.
  3. Discovery. Reach new areas and find hidden paths as the level and available paths change according to the actions of your past cycles.
