The Challenge

We ask that you read through the whole challenge first, then let Nat know your estimated delivery date so we can plan around it.

πŸ” Part 1: Critique a project (β‰ˆ30% of the challenge)

The Task: Please complete the AI Security Scanner for Python project, start to finish.

Then write up a critique of what could be better. Structure your critique across three dimensions:

  1. Technical accuracy. Does every step actually work? Any bugs, missing steps, or moments where a learner could get stuck?
  2. Narrative flow. Does the project read like an adventure, or does it lose you? Is the ordering right? Does each step set up the next?
  3. Learning experience. This is the design engineering lens. Are the screenshots clear and well-placed? Would a diagram (or more diagrams) help? Does the quiz make sense? Would you add new components, like flashcards? Are the code blocks good? What would you change or add, feature-wise, to make this the best possible way to learn this skill?

Be honest and be specific - for example, "This exact screenshot should sit after this bulletpoint, not before it, because the learner hasn't seen the output yet" is the kind of feedback we expect.

✍🏻 Part 2: Write and edit your own project (β‰ˆ70% of the challenge)

The Task: Pick any AI topic or project you'd be excited to teach, and share your own step by step guide. The project should take 30+ minutes for someone else to complete. Imagine that your audience is a learner that has basic computer skills and has used ChatGPT/Claude, but is new to skills like creating AI workflows or using the terminal.

Deliverables:

  1. A link to your finished project. This is in the format of your own choice - e.g. Markdown, NextWork project, Google doc, Medium article etc.
  2. A write-up. Walk us through your process and learnings: why you made the decisions you did, and why this is a good learning experience for someone with no prior knowledge. Show us how you think about writing projects.
