Proofline is a browser extension that corrects selected text in place. It has no server, no account system and no analytics. This policy describes everything it does with data.
Nothing. The developer operates no servers and receives no data of any kind — no text, no API keys, no usage counts, no crash reports, no identifiers.
The following is kept in your browser profile using the Chrome extension storage API, on your device only:
This data is never transmitted to the developer. It is removed when you uninstall the extension, and you can clear it at any time from the settings page.
The API key is stored unencrypted. Chrome provides extensions with no secure storage, so a key saved by any extension sits in the browser profile as plain text. If your computer is shared, use a key you can revoke and set a spend cap at your provider.
When you invoke Proofline on a passage of text, that passage and your editing instruction are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider whose key you configured, over HTTPS. Nothing passes through any intermediary. The provider's own privacy policy and data-retention terms govern what happens to the text after that; the developer is not a party to it.
If email masking is enabled, email addresses are replaced with placeholders before the text is sent and restored afterwards.
Nothing is sent when you are not actively invoking the extension.
Proofline requests no host permissions at install. When you first use it on a site, Chrome asks whether to grant access; you may grant a single domain or all sites. Access is used only to read the text you selected and to write the corrected text back.
The developer does not sell, transfer or share user data with anyone, and does not use it for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, for creditworthiness, or for advertising. There is no data to sell.
