If InjusticeBets was a real company (which, of course, it is) you have to wonder what the odds at the start of the season would have been for - after 5 rounds - the only unbeaten teams to be Andy (from Dirt League), Kaan (who won Dirt League last year) and Mark (who is constantly claiming he’s finished, even when undefeated. And what about if you added all those into a multi of the only team without a win to be Alan? Pretty astronomical odds, I’m sure. And yet, here we are.

Anyway, once again I’m only doing 4 matches for this round because a) I have a ~1 week old baby, and b) the other matches just aren’t as interesting to me.

Game 1: (9th) Do the Tsa Tsa (Kristin) Vs (3rd) Weddledthebed (Mark) H2H History: Mark: 1, Kristin 0.

Untitled

Prediction: Mark to beat Mark.

Game 2: (1st) The Adams Family (Kaan) Vs (7th) Tsatasfaction (Brenton) H2H History: N/A.

When Kaan entered the Injustice League his primary goal was simple, and one we could all get behind: beat Alan. Now, in round 6, Kaan seems to already have enough wins to beat Alan for the rest of the year, so with that goal presumably behind him, he can focus on other things - like winning Injustice League his first very year, something which no one coming from Dirt League has ever managed before. To be honest, Kaan hasn’t had the hardest draw. Let’s look at his opponents to date. Round 1: Peter (at the time ranked 18th for total score) Round 2: Will (at the time ranked 15th for total score) Round 3: Nat (at the time ranked 12th for total score) Round 4: Lachlan (at the time ranked 16th for total score) Round 5: Chris (at the time - currently - ranked 9th for total score) It’s not like he’s really been challenged all that much. And considering Brenton is currently ranked 11th for total score, it might not change that much this week either. But you can only beat who you’re put up against, and the above doesn’t change the fact that Kaan is currently first on the ladder and second for total score. Can Brenton stop him? He’s the first of the Injustice League ‘originals’ that Kaan is coming up against. Is Brenton going to represent the Old Guard well and put a stop to Kaan’s shenanigans, or will Kaan’s fairy tale first season continue?

Prediction: Brenton to be going full Shatner by the time the round is over.

Game 3:- (17th) MarkovTheBeast (Peter) Vs (4th) JingleAllTheMcStay (Gav) H2H History: N/A.

Before last week, this match wouldn’t even get a mention. We would have assumed Peter would lose and give Gavin a big percentage boost just like everyone else got previously from Peter. Only… that didn’t happen last week. Because not only did Alan remarkably shit the best and lose what most thought was unlosable - but Peter actually got the 5th highest score. In fact, he BEAT Gavin. If Peter wins this game - especially if Alan loses - things will continue on a terribly downhill spiral for Alan, which makes this match all the more juicy. But for Peter who presumably doesn’t care at all about the downfall of Alan, a second win in a row after essentially seeming like the easybeat for 2023 would be a huge confidence boost. He’s currently 17th on the ladder still, but the season is still young, and 2-4 is definitely not a hopeless position to be in. Although if he wants to make finals (or just make it so he earns some points for the season under the new overall points scoring system), he’s going to have an uphill battle due to his absolutely awful percentage of 79.9%, but the only way is up from here. Gavin meanwhile managed to reap the benefits of Rob’s desperation trade of Hewett, which I keep bringing him even though Hewett has proven to be nothing but a poisoned chalice up to this point - we still all hope he loses, so if Alan’s insane conspiracy theories about a puppet master behind Peter’s win last week are in fact true, the league asks said puppetmaster to come back just for one more week and help Peter get just one more win.

Prediction: Gavin by about 100… but I honestly don’t know what to think about Peter’s team anymore.

Game 4: The Main Event (8th) Lobbjockeys (Will) Vs (18th) Wardlaw & Order (Alan) H2H History: Alan 6, Will 2.

This is obviously not the first time these two players have come up against each other, with Alan crushing Will in a Grand Final appearance that literally everyone including Alan (until we recently looked it up) forgot even happened. Which is pretty silly, because it also led to one of the greatest hype videos in SuperCoach histories (which you can watch again here, because why not).

But while that epic Grand Final may have had Will and Alan looking like this:

Will, 2021.

Will, 2021.

Alan, 2021

Alan, 2021

Safe to say 2023 is a bit different, and Will and Alan are looking a little more like this:

Will, 2023.
