NOTE! IMPORTANT! The level split below is an experiment, so we can’t promise it will stay this way after registrations ;) If it turns out that most people register for, for example, one social group (e.g., the highest one), it’s obvious you won’t all fit in the ballroom and in that case an audition will not be avoided. Same if suddenly everyone writes that they want to go to the audition. We hope you’ll be understanding if this situation happens ;)

But for now, we want to give you the options below:

Social levels:

UPDATE! Please read the IMPORTANT INFO at the bottom of the page about registering for a social levels in the context of the Novice (Twinkle) audition

Three levels for people who don’t compete and/or don’t want/don’t like auditions. (Of course, if someone does compete, they can still choose these groups during registration.)

In principle, which of these groups you register for depends on your own assessment of your skills and/or experience — or on your teacher’s assessment if you prefer to rely on your instructor’s opinion.

Please assess your skills realistically ;)

We’d like teachers to plan classes for those groups around topics such as: Technique / Musicality / Creativity / Different sides of connection / Feeling–energy–dynamics–breath

Social Group 1 – Rudolph – from 6 months up to 2 years of West Coast Swing. You’re at the beginning of your WCS journey, and if you have experience in other dances, it’s not extensive ;)

Social Group 2 – Dancer – over 2 years up to 5 years of WCS. You’ve been dancing for a while and WCS is becoming natural for you, but competitions aren’t your thing; or you’ve been dancing WCS for a shorter time but you have an instructor-level background in other styles.

Social Group 3 – Blitzen – over 5 years of WCS. You have a lot of WCS dance experience and you already know a lot, but competitions aren’t your thing and/or it feels better to dance with you than it looks — so even if you do compete, you don’t necessarily “sell” it. Your dancing is no longer based only on patterns; you can go beyond pattern frameworks and create “here and now” together with your partner.

NOTE! It may turn out that one of the groups is much too big, or that most people want to go to the audition for Novice regardless of their dance experience — so we still need to know who would like/can go to the audition, so we can split you into groups that will comfortably fit in the rooms ;) Therefore, some time after registration you will receive a short survey asking about audition.

UPDATE!

REGISTRATION for a LEVEL vs AUDITION:

Since you register for social levels based on your own assessment, it may turn out that this assessment is very “relative” ;) so we assume that regardless of whether you register for Rudolph, Dancer, or Blitzen — you will be able to audition for Novice.

However, whether it will be in a format such as:

will be decided after registrations and the audition survey ;)

In any case, we can promise we’ll try to make it as logical and comfortable for you as possible, because we know auditions are a very sensitive moment at events for many people.
