Seenwhere is a local-first Chrome extension for saving content a user
deliberately chooses on a web page together with the source evidence needed to
find it later and return to its origin. This policy describes how the extension
handles user data. The publisher is the publisher identified on Seenwhere's
Chrome Web Store listing.
Data Seenwhere handles
Seenwhere handles data only after the user starts the extension and chooses
content to save. Depending on that choice, the local library may contain:
- selected text, formatted text, images, screenshots, object masks, page
regions, or sanitized page-element representations;
- the source URL, canonical URL when available, page title, page language,
capture time, source position, selection geometry, and bounded surrounding
context needed to explain or return to the source;
- titles, memory cues, tags, collections, relationships, search queries, and
other library actions entered by the user;
- locally generated OCR text, visual observations, embeddings, search indexes,
and model provenance; and
- extension preferences and a versioned record that the user accepted the
current privacy notice.
The extension does not continuously monitor browsing history, pages, clicks,
or keystrokes. It accesses an ordinary web page only after the user invokes
Seenwhere for the active tab. Chrome system pages, the Chrome Web Store, and
other restricted pages cannot be captured.
How the data is used
Seenwhere uses this data only to provide its disclosed purpose:
- preview and save the content selected by the user;
- organize and search the user's local library;
- create optional local OCR, visual, and semantic recall evidence;
- explain search results and relationships;
- return to the saved source when the browser can resolve it;
- export, validate, restore, or merge a user-requested portable archive; and
- diagnose local failures through a redacted report the user must explicitly
copy.
Ground Truth selected or entered by the user remains separate from rebuildable
local analysis. Derived observations do not silently overwrite saved content or
become user tags without an explicit user action.
