About Odin
Odin Labs, Inc. ("Odin") is the workforce visibility and compliance platform powering the next generation of infrastructure. As demand accelerates for AI data centers, clean energy projects, and large-scale construction, Odin provides the operational backbone for real-time workforce tracking, credential verification, site access, and compliance management. We experienced more than 7x revenue growth from 2024 to 2025, and 2026 has already surpassed 2025 growth.
Odin's growth is driven by rapid expansion and adoption of our software platform across complex, high-compliance construction environments. As we continue to see strong market momentum and growth in complex construction programs, Odin is preparing for its next stage of scale.
About the role
As Odin grows, we are hiring a Senior Design Engineer to design and build the interfaces people use to run a jobsite and the shared system behind them. This role requires both product design and frontend engineering. It is not a frontend engineering role with a new label, and it does not stop at prototypes. Your portfolio must demonstrate product-design judgment, UX thinking, and visual craft, and your shipped work must demonstrate that you can carry those decisions into production code.
Your work will move between customer-facing projects and the design system they share. You will establish Odin's design language in Figma and in production-ready components, then prove and evolve it through real product work. You will use prototypes to test an interaction, turn the result into responsive screens, and ship the frontend experience. Software Engineers will work with you on the data, services, and business rules behind a complete workflow, but you will own the interface from design through production.
This is a hands-on senior role. You will take design-heavy projects from a defined customer problem through interaction design, implementation, release, and validation with little oversight. You will own the quality of the interfaces and shared frontend systems you design and build while helping the team deliver one coherent product.
What you will do
- Turn customer evidence and product problems defined with Product into clear information architecture, interaction models, and interface decisions, then use prototypes and usability testing to validate them.
- Design polished, responsive interfaces that help customers understand and complete complex work across desktop, tablet, mobile, touch, pointer, and keyboard input.
- Establish and evolve Odin's design language across Figma and code through reusable tokens, accessible components, interaction patterns, documentation, and checks that teams can apply without depending on you.
- Build coded prototypes with realistic mocked data so the team can test navigation, behavior, and product assumptions before every service is connected.
- Write production frontend code for complete screens and interaction flows, including loading, empty, error, permission, and recovery states.
- Work with Software Engineers on interface contracts and connect your frontend work to the data, services, and business rules behind a reliable customer workflow.
- Improve existing product experiences as the design system develops, using adoption work to find weak abstractions and turn repeated product needs into durable shared capabilities.
- Own design-heavy product and design-system projects. Compare approaches, define the work, keep decisions and risks visible, and stay accountable for the interface customers ultimately use.
- Build accessibility, performance, visual consistency, and responsive behavior into the interfaces and components you design, test, release, and monitor.
- Use AI to accelerate research synthesis, exploration, prototyping, and design-system implementation while reviewing, testing, and refining everything it helps produce.
- Help engineers improve interface work through design and code reviews, pairing, documentation, and direct feedback.
What we are looking for
We evaluate candidates first through portfolios and other examples of past work. You may come from design or engineering, but your examples should include products you both designed and helped implement in production. Include a link in your cover letter.
- For each featured project, you clearly explain the problem, your role, the UX and visual decisions you made, how you validated them, and what changed as a result.
- Your portfolio demonstrates more than frontend execution. It shows that you can establish a visual direction, organize complex information, design coherent interactions and states, and explain why the result works for the people using it.
- You have turned customer evidence or product context into flows, information architecture, and interaction models, then used prototypes or usability testing to improve the design.
- You have established or materially improved a design language, component library, or design system and can show how the system made product work more coherent or reusable.
- You have built and shipped substantial responsive web interfaces. You can explain how you handled rendering and state, accessibility, browser behavior, performance, testing, and failure modes.
- You are proficient with React, TypeScript, and CSS, or have equivalent experience with a modern web stack. Your code is clear enough for other engineers to understand, extend, and operate.
- You use code to answer product and interaction questions, know when a prototype is ready to become production software, and can carry the frontend through that transition.
- You have owned a design-heavy product or design-system project from a defined problem through implementation and adoption, making pragmatic tradeoffs and keeping collaborators aligned as the work changed.
- You test and document the interfaces and components you build so other engineers can use and change them safely.
- You work effectively with Product and Software Engineering while remaining accountable for the quality and coherence of the finished interface.
Nice to have
- Experience with backend development that lets you deliver a complete workflow without depending on another engineer.
- Experience designing and building mobile interfaces with React Native or another production mobile framework.
- Experience evolving a design system across several products or migrating established interfaces onto a new system without stopping feature delivery.
- Experience with data-dense operational software, complex permissions, or workflows people use while moving between an office and the field.
- Experience with construction technology, access control, workforce management, or other software used on a jobsite.
- Experience at an early-stage startup where you established a new design or engineering capability while continuing to ship product.
- Experience with Shape Up or another delivery model where a team works within a fixed time budget and adjusts scope to protect the deadline and outcome.
Our stack
You are not expected to have worked with everything listed below. You should be fluent in Figma and bring deep experience designing and building for the web.
- Figma for interface design, prototyping, and our shared design system
- Claude Design for AI-assisted exploration, prototyping, and design-to-code workflows
- TypeScript end to end
- React and CSS on the web
- React Native and Expo on mobile
- Node.js and GraphQL service interfaces
Benefits and eligibility
- Competitive salary package
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage for you and your family
- Flexible working hours and remote work options
- Generous vacation and paid time off policy
This role includes periodic travel to customer jobsites.
