If you asked anyone now, they’d say Forrest is a big personality with a loud mouth, an odd sense of humor, and a calm, cool, collected demeanor. He's always been someone who stands out, even when he tries not to. Being tall and outgoing didn’t seem to help either. Beneath his playful nature, however, is someone who's spent most of his life trying to make peace with his past and bury skeletons in his closet. Growing up in South Korea, Forrest's childhood wasn’t as easy as he makes it out to be. With an absent father and a mother struggling with addiction, much of the responsibility of keeping the family together fell on his older brother, Florian, whom he knows as Hansol. Their mother's addiction often manifested through emotional and physical abuse, with Florian taking the brunt of her anger to protect Forrest and their younger sister, Willow, whom they knew as Taeri. However, when Florian decided to complete mandatory enlistment in the Marines at 20, 12-year-old Forrest found himself becoming his mother's next target. Despite being only eleven months and twenty-two days older than Willow, he took it upon himself to protect her, often telling ridiculous stories or being silly to distract her from what had been going on at home.
At fifteen, Forrest relocated to New Jersey with his family, where adjusting to life in America proved difficult. With limited English, he struggled to communicate and became a frequent target of bullying. His ADHD only added to the challenges of navigating an unfamiliar school system. Rather than letting people see how much their words affected him, Forrest developed a habit of laughing everything off and eventually becoming the sarcastic, goofy man people know today. Around this time, he formed a close friendship with Airi, a girl born just two days apart from him. Over the years, she became practically another sister to him, one of the few people capable of seeing through his defenses when something was genuinely wrong. She became a rock for him throughout his college years, secretly staying in his dorm room while he picked up several odd jobs, including working illegally as a bartender and getting paid under the table, to help her pay for her first apartment. And even then, she never stayed home.
As he grew older, Forrest eventually found himself falling into some of the same destructive habits he'd witnessed growing up. Struggling with unresolved trauma, abandonment issues, and unregulated emotions, he turned to substance abuse involving coke, amphetamines, and various opioids as a means of escape. His relationship with addiction became a difficult cycle of dependence, attempts at sobriety, and occasional setbacks. He also sought comfort through physical intimacy, sometimes using sex and casual hookups to feel wanted or temporarily satisfy himself while he was high. Anything to get away for just a moment... By his current age, he'd accumulated fourteen sexual partners, though he'd gradually begun recognizing the difference between genuine connection and seeking validation. Despite his struggles, Forrest remained determined to build a better future for himself. His experiences in high school sparked a fascination with the human mind, eventually leading him to earn both a bachelor's and a master's degree in psychology. Forrest was always a hard worker, showing it best through his academics and graduating from college and grad school much earlier than expected. After completing the necessary nursing education and qualifications, he pursued a career as a psychiatric nurse, hoping to provide others with the understanding and compassion he desperately needed and wished he had growing up. Outside of work, he found another outlet through music after getting clean, becoming the bassist in a band where he could channel those feelings into something he genuinely loved.
Family remains a complicated subject for Forrest. Florian, now thirty-three, is still a Marine stationed in the US and a father of two daughters whom Forrest absolutely adores. While the brothers remain close, Florian has completely cut contact with their mother. Willow, now twenty-three and soon to be twenty-four, works as a cam girl and streamer and has taken a different approach. Their mother recently returned from rehab and has been living with Willow for the past couple of months. Forrest remains conflicted about the arrangement, having a difficult relationship with his mother but still loving her nonetheless despite the trauma. Having struggled with addiction himself, he understands that recovery is possible, but understanding his mother's illness doesn't erase the abuse they endured; HE endured. He wants to believe she's changed, yet he's terrified of watching history repeat itself, especially with Willow living alone with her under the same roof. Today, Forrest is still figuring himself out. He's quite impulsive, affectionate, occasionally self-destructive, and notorious for cracking jokes at the most inappropriate times. He flirts shamelessly and struggles with commitment, even with a girl he currently doesn’t want to let go of. His recovery is an ongoing process, and while he's made significant progress, some days remain harder than others, even with people by his side. Above all, Forrest remains loyal to the people he loves even when he struggles to extend that same kindness to himself. He's learning that he doesn't have to be everyone's source of happiness, but he’s open to people letting him be.
