Speak about people with restraint and respect. Don't trash. If you want people to say good things about you when you are not in the room, the very first necessary step is not to avoid speaking badly about other people.
Don't judge the person you are talking to, especially before learning more about them. And even after. You are not all-knowing so you aren't necessarily right. You’re entitled to your own perception and right to dislike someone but never to feel superior and judge their behavior or their mindset.
Do not brag about anything. Always remind yourself that you are a speck of dust in the universe. Don't act like you know everything, learn from everyone. Spend more time listening than talking.
Be nice with people. If you feel someone is not being nice to you, don't take it personally. Let it slip, it’s okay. We are all human and all in the same universal team in the end.
Try as hard as you can, without being harsh on yourself when you fail. Putting your heart into it is the best you can do. When things don’t turn out as perfect as you would have wanted, remain peaceful in your heart, because you are doing your best.
Say hi, be nice, be on time, be polite, give your full attention during meetings, send a recap or a thank-you note afterwards: you will earn people’s consideration amazingly fast.
Always fight for your ideas, for what you believe in, but do it with rationality. A point is powerful when it relies on real figures & examples.
Efficiency is key. Identify what’s most impactful to the company and focus on completing it fully before moving to a less prioritary task. Don’t leave topics hanging for months. Refuse/leave meetings when you don’t feel useful.
