Welcome to Shift Calendar (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information and the choices available to you.

1. Information we process

You do not need to create an account to use the App. When you use its scheduling, calendar, reminder, and statistics features, you may enter or generate:

This App data is primarily stored on your device. The App currently does not provide an account or a cloud synchronization service operated by the developer, and it does not intentionally upload your schedules to a developer-operated server. Please also read the sections below about image recognition, Firebase analytics and crash reports, Android system backup, and files you choose to export or share.

2. Image recognition

You may choose an image for the App to recognize schedule text. The App accesses only the image you select through the system photo picker and processes it on your device using Google ML Kit text recognition. You can review the recognized result before importing it. The App does not access your photo library through this feature unless you choose an image.

Although recognition takes place on your device, the Google ML Kit software development kit may process device and app information, performance metrics, event or error information, per-installation identifiers, and the sizes of input and output data for diagnostics and usage analytics. Google states that this data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. See the Google ML Kit data disclosure and Google Privacy Policy for details.

3. Usage analytics and crash reports

The App includes Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. Google Analytics may collect usage events such as app opens, screen views, and schedule creation, as well as device and app information and an app-instance identifier, to help us understand how features are used. Our custom events do not include schedule names, specific dates, notes, image contents, or exported file information. The Google Analytics SDK may also automatically collect information such as sessions, device model, operating system version, approximate geography, and advertising identifiers.

Crashlytics may collect stack traces, relevant app state, device information, and an installation identifier when the App crashes or becomes unresponsive, to help us diagnose and fix problems. We do not intentionally attach the schedule content you enter to analytics events or crash reports. Google processes this information under its applicable terms. See the Firebase data disclosure, Google Analytics data collection information, and Google Privacy Policy.

4. Reminders and system permissions

When you enable the relevant features, the App uses notifications and alarms to remind you about shifts or activities. It may reschedule reminders after your device restarts. You can manage notification permission in your device settings. These permissions are used to display or play reminders at the scheduled time; they are not used to access your contacts, location, or call contents.

5. Backup, export, and sharing

You may export App data to a JSON backup file, export statistics to CSV or PDF files, or share a calendar image or backup file. A JSON backup may contain schedules, activities, notes, overtime records, hourly pay rates, reminders, and preferences. You choose where a file is saved through the system file picker and who receives it through the system share interface. The App does not add encryption to exported files. If you save a file to cloud storage or send it to another app, service, or person, the recipient's practices will govern its subsequent handling. Please protect exported files that contain personal information.

The App allows Android to back up App data. If backup is enabled on your device and the system's conditions are met, Android may back up the App's local data, including schedules, notes, and hourly pay rates, to the Google Account associated with your device and restore it when you change devices or reinstall the App. You can manage this feature in your device's backup settings. See the Android Auto Backup documentation for details.

6. Purposes and retention
