Habitat: Conifer woodland, and increasingly garden feeders in late winter and spring. | Season: All year

Identification

Behaviour

An acrobatic feeder, often hanging upside-down like a tit; garden numbers swell in late winter when natural seed supplies run low.

Did you know?

Siskins bred mainly in Ireland's native pinewoods for centuries, but the spread of conifer plantations in the 20th century gave them far more habitat, helping their numbers grow substantially.
